Now comes the best part! The USB drive can be removed from the Mac and plugged into the Apple TV. Run sudo diskutil unmountDisk diskX to unmount the drive. Run sudo gpt add -b START -s SIZE -i 2 -t "5265636F-7665-11AA-AA11-00306543ECAC" /dev/diskX where START and SIZE are the respective values noted earlier. Run sudo gpt remove -i 2 /dev/diskX to remove the existing partition entry, which we will re-add in the next step with the correct type.

If it says the disk was not unmounted, wait a few moments and try again.ĭuring the following steps, you may see a warning from Mac OS X that a disk is unreadable. Run sudo diskutil unmountDisk diskX to unmount the disk. Audio connected to the Apple TV via the audio jacks (HDMI audio does not work)ĭownload the disk image from one of these fine places:.Monitor or TV connected to the Apple TV via HDMI or component.Powered USB hub (for connecting the USB drive at the same time as a keyboard and mouse). In this guide, we will be using the disk image to create a bootable USB drive with Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8 for the Apple TV.

Unfortunately, patched disk images with the fruits of their labor have been lost to time, so I took it upon myself to dig up instructions on how to set up an installation from scratch, and have uploaded the resulting installation as a ready-to-use disk image!

Back in the day, many members of the Mac community were able to get full versions of Mac OS X running on the Apple TV.

You might need a different location. As you may know, the firmware for the 1st-generation Apple TV was a modified version of Mac OS X Tiger. Just after your failed port aquaterm build, be sure to look at sandbox message. After patching macports source, be sure to reinstall, so that the change takes effect. The workaround is to either disable sandbox with 'set portsandbox_profile ""' in pre-build and pre-destroot procedures, or better yet expand the sandbox for Yosemite/Xcode. I have five messages like this one:ġ1/27/14 9:49:16.838 PM sandboxd: () ibtoold(19155) deny file-write-create /opt/.TemporaryItems/folders.509/TemporaryItems/(A Document Being Saved By ibtool)ĥ09 is user macports uid number. I mount a separate disk for Macports at mountpoint "/opt/". This is a bug in Xcode, specifically /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr/bin/ibtool does not respect the environment's TMPDIR setting, instead in my case, it wants to write to files under "/opt/.TemporaryItems/". The build log message from ibtool is confusing and poorly done. I am on OS X 10.10.1 system with Xcode 6.1.

I too see this with port aquaterm and other ports using Xcode to build them.
#MENUMETERS YOSEMITE INSTALL#
I have configured MacPorts to build and install in a separate disk partition under /Volumes/UNIX/opt/local, and have attached /Volumes/UNIX/opt/local/etc/macports/nf as well, in case this is playing a role in the problem sudo /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr/bin/ibtool -strip /Volumes/UNIX/opt/local/var/macports/build/_Volumes_UNIX_opt_local_var_macports_sources_release_tarballs_ports_aqua_aquaterm/aquaterm/work/AquaTerm-1.1.1/aquaterm/build/Default/AquaTerm.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Preferences.nib -output-format human-readable-text /Users/mfuhrer] Strangely, when I try to manually run the StripNIB command, I don't encounter any /Users/mfuhrer] Inspecting the log file reveals failures during the StripNIB build phases.
